Holiday Fitness Tip # 4: 12/09/2012

Join a ballet class. Ballet is great for creating and lean muscular lines, increasing flexibility, improving ones own posture, improve balance, coordination, and improve your agility. Ballet has many components that enable these things to happen. There is the petite allegro which involves quick feet and other sharp movements perfect for those wishing to develop or improve their agility. The adagio component will teach you to use slow sustained movement that will increase your range of motion, muscular strength, muscular endurance, improve your balance, and create long lean muscular lines. The pas de deux will teach you how to work with a dance partner as a unit, and for men it will increase your muscular strength by having to lift and balance your partner. The grande battement will increase your flexibility through dynamic flexibility and quick sharp movements. Ballet is also a great calorie burner. A 150 lb individual can burn up to 396 Kcal with a 1 hour of ballet. Ballet is a fun activity for everyone, so go out and give it a try.
